AXL SCHOOL OF MUSIC IS COMPLETING 20 YEARS in APRIL 2009

AXL SCHOOL OF MUSIC (Roque's Music Classes ..originally)is completing 20 years of
service to the Music-World. The term 'School' is just a notion ....not a physical place....it can be under the shade of a Banyan Tree or across distances, learning in a virtual ambiance using web-cameras and microphones.

Started by Roque Lazarus in Summer of 1989 in the Veranda of his Ancestral house at Caranzalem, with a few students, and then moving to different places and institutions,
Roque Lazarus has instructed over a 1000 students who come from various parts of the World but mostly from India.

Roque changed the name of the School to 'AXL' in 1992, influenced by the antics of the flamboyant singer of the Rock Band 'Guns n Roses', AXL ROSE (adapted stage-name).

The School is housed at present in an old House in Panaji and a selected few Senior Citizens who find it difficult to make it there are being tutored in the comfort of their own residence.

Admissions are subject to there being a vacant seat.
At present there aren't any.....so those who want to appear for the aptitude test prior to admission have to be on the waiting list.

20 years of sharing knowledge with young minds ...knowledge shared and still being freely given in the first place by kind teachers of Roque Lazarus.

Pupils who have studied with us are now professionals performing in the Entertainment Industry and a few have gone on in the Teaching Line.
Some have got highest marks for International Exams in Goa...others have gone a step further and secured highest marks in the Country for those same Exams and yet some others have topped State level Music-Competitions. A few lucky ones have formed Bands in Countries abroad.

20 years of teaching music and 20 years of performing as a musician from the Pop- band 'Teens' of 1989 and a host of other bands and openings for International acts such as Venga-Boys, Jethro Tull, backing a few top Indian Artists, working as a recordists and midi-sequencing specialist for studios, arranging, composing and performing jingles for Television and Films along with Radio Stations, performing for Tiatros, Birthdays, Weddings,Conducting Choirs and Ensembles, playing for Anniversaries and even Funerals, acting in Films, playing Double-Bass in Symphony Orchestras and presently jamming with the Heavy-Metal Outfit 'Bad-apple' and performing along with and balancing the Sound-system for AGOGIC Guitar Ensemble.
And on special occasions, teaming up with Rui and Eulario performing a new genre of music.

AXL school of music is a night-school commencing at 5 P.m and finishing at 12.00 Midnight. Special Individual Classes of 45 mnt duration once a week along with a
complimentary group class of Theory/History/Stage-Craft e.t.c on Thursdays from 6.30 pm to 7.15. Besides the main instrument, students have the free choice of choosing an additional instrument to learn once a month. Exams are held once a year and Report/progress cards given to the student along with a Certificate if they pass successfully.
Every Year, 2 scholarships of 3 months complimentary classes each...are given to deserving students who are regular in attendance, have secured highest marks and are well-disciplined and have affinity to learn fast and love music.
Special Lifetime Scholarships are granted to a very select few who the administration have found to be exceptionally brilliant or most-deserving.

The School day is celebrated on the morning of 29 December when the Students give a short musical performance and this is attended by their close relatives or families.
